Twitterview with EduWEB Conference Director Shelley Wetzel

I recently did my first ever Twitterview with Shelley Wetzel, director of the eduWEB conference.  This conference pulls together some of the best and brightest Web developers, marketers, designers and technologists serving the Higher Education market (both working in colleges and universities and serving that market).

eduWEB ConferenceLast year, InnoGage joined forces with Jadu and sponsored the Social Media at the Conference in Chicago.  The idea just kind of hit me out of the blue.  When I shared it with Shelley, she was on board immediately.  Jadu jumped in to assist and the whole thing came off beautifully.  You can read more about that HERE if you want.

InnoGage Hosts The Carnival of College Admission

I was honored to be asked by my fellow blogger and friend, Mark Montgomery, to host this round of the Carnival of College Admission.  For anyone who has never heard of this,  it’s a compilation of high-quality blogs from reputable bloggers that relate to different areas around college admissions.  Below you will find a quick snippet about each engaging blog post with a link to the blog for your reading enjoyment.

Alvina Lopez presents 100 Awesome Blogs for Your Business Education posted at Online College Reviews - College Ratings.  [Note from Tom Williams, InnoGage Host... I noticed that #7 on this list of 100 is my good friend, Wil Schroter.  Wil is an awesome entrepreneur - you should definitely give him a read.]

Lynn Mattoon brings us a very insightful blog about the millennials in the workforce. This Article discusses issues of a new generation entering the workforce (recent college graduates).  It also talks about how what employers are looking for in a candidate when they hire.  As an employer who has hired several Millennials, I was able to relate to this article strongly.  Career Article - Millennials in the Workforce - CollegeJobBank.com.

Brooklyn White presents The Challenges and Advantages of Using Digital Content in Higher Education In this blog she discusses 15 disadvantages and 7 advantages to using digital content in the higher ed learning space.  So… the disadvantages outweigh the advantages 2:1?  Give it a read and see what you think!

One thing I remember from my MBA days was the professors emploring us to become life-long learners.  To never stop taking courses, attending seminars, going to conferences…Margaret Garcia presents 9 Tips for Being a Lifelong Learner posted at Accredited Online Universities.

This blog post is a bit out of the ordinary, but it’s definitely worth the read.  Let’s face it.  Colleges are known for more than just GPAs and ivy covered buildings.  See which schools rank high (for better or for worse) according to some unusual criteria.  Elisha Knackwood presents Top 25 Off-Color College Rankings: Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll posted at The .Edu Toolbox.

As a night-owl, this blog post really hit home with me.  I remember the one and only time I took an early class during my undergraduate days.  “Remember” is a figurative term, however, as I slept through the lecture almost every day.  Tom Tessin presents The Pros and Cons of Early College Classes posted at FCC Student Blog.

Praveen Puri addresses the modern day college education in the current economic climate. Students Beware! Colleges, Tuition, Loans, and Debt - Will Education Follow the Housing Bust? posted at Simplicity, Success, and Passive Income.

I’ve never been much of a comic book junkie but apparently they can be used in the classroom! Anne Simone presents Comics in the Classroom: 100 Tips, Tools, and Resources for Teachers posted at Teaching Degree.org.

Letters of recommendation for college are par for the course…however, are you getting the most out of your letters? Diane presents Requesting Letters of Recommendation: A How-To posted at ULS Blog for International Students.

Lastly, Risa Stein has three good resources for us.
